Digital X-Rays Dublin, OH
Exams are an important part of diagnosing a variety of different oral health issues and planning the most effective treatments possible. However, there are many different components in your mouth. While many of these components are visible, there are still many more that are hidden from view. To determine the exact cause of your oral health issues, and to determine the best treatments possible, we need to see these hidden components. At Rekos & Border Oral Surgery, we can more thoroughly examine your mouth with digital X-rays.
What Can Be Seen with X-Rays?
X-rays help us to see the hidden areas of your mouth. With this type of imaging, we can see many different issues, including

Cavities and damage between teeth.
|
• |
Damage to tooth roots.
|
• |
Damage to your jawbone, such as fractures.

• |
Tumors in the jawbone.
|
• |
Impacted teeth. |
What are Digital X-Rays?
X-rays have been used for many years. Traditionally, these images have been taken using radiation. After taking the necessary images, they then needed to be developed. This was done in a separate dark room and could take some time to complete. Additionally, many patients today express concerns over the use of radiation to capture dental images.
Today, we use digital X-rays to take necessary images of your mouth. Digital X-rays use electronic technology. We position an electronic sensor, which is attached to a computer, into your mouth. We then click a button on the computer to capture your images. Once taken, the images display almost immediately on the computer monitor. There is no need to develop images or leave the room at all.
What are the Benefits of Digital X-Rays?
There are several significant benefits of digital X-rays over traditional X-ray technology.
• |
Your exposure to radiation is greatly decreased. In many instances, radiation exposure is reduced up to 95%! This can be a great relief for many patients.
|
• |
Taking your X-rays is quick and completely painless.
|
• |
Your images are displayed almost instantly on the computer monitor. We do not need to develop them at all. They are ready to read right after appearing on the screen.
|
• |
Specialized software helps us to more effectively read your images. We can zoom in on specific areas to spot the smallest details. This allows for a more accurate diagnosis of your specific issue. We are also able to formulate a customized treatment plan that will provide you with optimal results.
|
• |
Your patient experience is greatly improved. Your entire appointment is spent with you. Because your images do not need to be developed, we can take the time necessary to help you understand your diagnosis and what your treatment options are. You are given plenty of time to ask questions. With a better understanding of your condition, you can leave your appointment feeling more confident in your care. |
