Dr. James P. Ellis, DDS, MS

Dr. Ellis is a graduate of Chicago’s Northwestern University School of Dentistry (DDS 1997) where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed a four year surgical residency at the Ohio State University where he received his Master’s degree and certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has served as a part-time Clinical Faculty member at the OSU Dental School in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Ellis performs the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which includes 3rd molar removal, dental implant reconstruction, reconstructive jaw surgery and IV anesthesia. His primary interests lie in dental implant surgery with an emphasis on hard and soft tissue grafting. He has a unique and unparalleled experience in 3-Dimensional computer aided dental implant and bone grafting procedures. Along with Dr. Scheetz, Dr. Ellis was one of the first practitioners in Central Ohio to incorporate the i-CAT Cone Beam CT scanner and 3-D technology into his dental implant practice. He also utilizes 3-D imaging to treat numerous conditions of the Maxillofacial region.

Dr. Ellis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons where he received his board certification. In addition, he is a fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and maintains an affiliation with Grant and Dublin Methodist Hospitals. Additionally, Dr. Ellis is part of the team of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for the Columbus Blue Jackets, responsible for treating oral, facial and jaw injuries sustained by the NHL players.

Dr. Ellis is married to Dr. Jennifer Ellis, a family physician in Columbus, and are the busy parents of three very active children, Cooper, Cameron, and Reed. While not working he enjoys snow skiing, mountain biking, fishing, sailing and the beach.
